Another Winner from Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly just seems to get better with each new book. I couldn't put it down. It's a very topical story about the demise of the newspaper industry, internet identity theft, plus the usual dose of heroes and villains. Wonderful narration combined with excellent audio production quality. You won't be disappointed.

Vintage Connelly

Superb - another outing for Jack McEvoy, who perhaps makes a more well-rounded, less cliched 'detective' character than Harry Bosch (much as I love him) - less cynical, jaded and commitment-phobe; and I think the novel benefits from that. The plot is taut, tense, thrilling and utterly chilling, very hard to stop listening to - many important jobs were put on hold while I was engrossed in it! The villain, to whom we are introduced very early on, is authentically psychopathic, yet intriguing and the narration is very nicely judged - one of the few audiobooks I've listened to where I don't recall wincing at narrative gaffes even once. Without question, this is for me a five star audiobook. I'm only sorry I've finished listening to it. Buy it!

Good stuff

Another well constructed and well told story. On very few occasions did I think this far fetched but neither was it remotely dull or in any way predictable.

This is the 4th book from this author I have purchased, yet to be disappointed.

Scary and gripping

I usually have audible books as background to other activities but this one is so compelling it defies that plan and demands attention
I didn't expect that anything could be as good as the Harry Bosch stories but this is just as good
Wow I'm hooked and looking for more!

Great listen

Would you listen to The Scarecrow: Jack McEvoy, Book 2 again? Why?

Definitely, loved it, so many twists and turns. I loved THE POET and this was up to standard.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a bit like asking which part of the dessert you liked best. It's the combination of flavours and textures that make it. Same with a book, the plot, sub plot characters, writing, all combine to make the book just right

Have you listened to any of Peter Giles’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, I like him . Very clear diction, pleasant tone

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Indeed it was. So glad iI was ill and had an excuse to stay in bed and listen to it!

Any additional comments?

Hope this is not the last of Jack and Rachel. They work well together Rachel so analytical, Jack, jumping in with inspiration and feelings, great couple.
