Summary

Debuted and currently #4 on the New York Times audio bestseller list!

Fifty-something David Spade is letting it all hang out. Older (yes), wiser (debatable), in A Polaroid Guy in a Snapchat World, the actor, comedian, and SNL alum reflects on his life then and now through a series of candid and hysterical (and occasionally cringe-worthy) takes on everything from why it’s getting harder to date younger women, to what it’s like being a dad now, to suddenly being the “old guy” on set.

Whether he’s musing on the alarming ease of breaking up over text (he’s done it), feuding with a teenage Internet celebrity (spoiler alert, he lost), or dealing with the friend from high school who became his full-time plus-one, when the star of Joe Dirt and Just Shoot Me unleashes his biting wit and dirty mind on the general freakiness of middle-age, he’s in a league of his own (not to be confused with A League of Their Own).

Written and performed for the Audible experience, Spade’s new comic memoir takes listeners along for the sometimes embarrassing and always hilarious ride of getting older in our fleeting “Snapchat World”.

er....what?

I like Spade, he's a funny, amiable sort of guy in the movies, typecast, but very good on most occasions, but I'm not sure what to think after hearing this. I can't tell if he is playing with he audience, adopting yet another character to convey these anecdotes or if this is the real David talking about his real thoughts and life. hmmmm. Jury is out. That said, it's funny, warm, well delivered and on occasion provocative. All you need from a comedy guy in pc world gone mad.

interesting enough

I kept on seeing this appear in my library feed, had a few spare credits so thought what the hell 🤔 why not give it a go. I can't say I'm disappointed even if I wasn't thrilled. Spade is an expert at the art of self depreciation. so much so that you kinda feel for him a number of times for whatever had made him that way. theres a couple of laugh out loud moments filtered through la fairly poignant celebration of modern life versus old fashioned ways.

Relatable and so funny

May not be David's agemate but I can defo agree on so many "issues" of today's world. But what is there to do. Better to laugh then cry. Worth the listen.
