Summary

Children are not supposed to rescue their parents, life is supposed to be the other way around. And rescues aren't supposed to be needed on the trip out to the new colony planet Valhalla. Slow, yes. Boring, yes. Dangerous? No, the trip is not supposed to be dangerous, never has been.

When thieves attack the transport ship to steal an ancient alien artifact, and young Kaylee and her brother, Manny, are cut off from their parents, they have to stop the thieves from getting what they want, because once the thieves have the artifact, they're not leaving any witnesses.

Should be a movie

Great book. Excellent descriptive narrative. I already see the movie. Highly recommend for scifi lovers.

Home alone in space. Without the Christmas.

And with 120% more Thino's. I really enjoyed this and look forward to seeing where the next book in the series take the story.

Slow and unfulfilling

The story starts of with promise, but as we venture into the body of the book, nothing much happens for 4 hours and boom pirates Then the leading characters who are kids that are stuck in space come up against a trained band of thugs. The children manage to out smart them on every turn, bit far fetched!. I may have be the wrong audience for this book. May be more suited to a younger audience who are starting out on Science Fiction. Very Disney.

Home Alone in Space

This is a well performed book, and overall it is well written. Despite it mostly concerning a pair of children versus a band of pirates, as they set traps and foil their plans, it was an engaging listen. You are left at the end though realising that nothing much has happened, and it all ties up in the most cliched way possible.

There is an alien device involved, but it is never explored which felt like a wasted opportunity and just an excuse to write more books.

Really enjoyed this entry to another Craig Alanson story

This definitely has the making of a great series and could take us anywhere in upcoming books. The kids voices were a little frustrating at times but I got used to it after a short while. Some parts of the story were a little predictable but I like the easygoing way manner in which the story was written.

Definitely a fan and yes I have the expeditionary force T-shirt.

I dare the author to introduce a shiny beer can relic into his book. Even if it is discarded, a skippy cameo would fit well here without the annoying little beer can talking. Eg somebody finding a beer can and discarding it.

kid friendly sci fi.

It has a kid friendly vibe to it in the way it has been written. Like a young adventure book. It feels like this could be an animated movie very easily. A great little story with lots of personality. enjoyed it alot.

High drama in space, the kids a save the day

Full of action and tension as a family battle evil pirates in outer space. Impossible scenarios are overcome by two inventive siblings. Add into the mix a friendly robot who switches sides unexpectedly, four ferocious predictors and hapless pirates whose determination turns to desperation, all make this an entertaining listen. This would be suitable for children especially as the main characters are children but also as there is no extreme violence.

a nice surprise

wasn't expecting to enjoy this but it grew and has potential. Well done to Auther and Narrator for creating a genuine sifi Swiss family Robinson esc and bringing it to life.

Home Alone in Space….basically

Pretty good story but some of the characters voices, mainly the kids, was annoying and a bit cringe. Essentially it’s ‘Home Alone’ in space, with 2 kids instead of 1.
