Beneath the unforgiving, blazing heat of the African sun, two men and a woman embark on a savage hunt - a hunt that will tear their safe safari apart, plunging them into the restless tides of a deadly civil war. For Sean Courtney, veteran guerrilla fighter and professional warrior, it is a time to fight and a time to find a deep and passionate love. For the beautiful Claudia Monterro, it is a time to face the ultimate test in a world where American values count for nothing. And for Ricardo, her father, a rich and ruthless tycoon, it is a time to confront a dangerous obsession.

Smith is much more interested in elephants than people!

Dont blame him, his elephants are as wise as his people are stupid. How many novels have you read narrated from an elephants point of view? For this I forgive Smith much.

A journey through Africa

I've just finished listening to the Courtney serious by Wilbur Smith. Their journey takes them from the high seas to surviving the wilderness of Africa. With each word written I was there among the animals, living with the family and running bare foot across the waste lands. The books left me with a longing to see Africa. Well, that's a story.

dismal failure

What disappointed you about A Time to Die?

my wife was exasperated; I was not told it was abridged.

Would you ever listen to anything by Wilbur Smith again?

yes. I have enjoyed reading as number of his books

How could the performance have been better?

could have been unabridged

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

of course , but not one of his better books or maybe I have read too many of his. My wife might have enjoyed it if it was unabridged: I was told it was complete.

Any additional comments?
