Summary

A story of love, war, loyalty and betrayal, Excalibur begins with the failure of Lancelot's rebellion and the ruin of Arthur's marriage to Guinevere. The Saxons, sensing the disunity of the Britons, seize the chance to destroy Arthur. The climax of the war comes with the legendary triumph at Mount Badon, and Arthur`s great victory. But the promises he made then come back to haunt him after the years of peace and glory.

The Arthurian legend given substance

I had the trilogy as books and as tapes. This is the first time I have seen them as audio books to download and I have been looking for them for several years.

The three titles, The Winter King, The Enemy of God, and Excalibur, are my favourite and the best retelling of the legend of Arthur I have read or heard, filled with action and interesting facts about the era, real locations and a gritty realism. I loved them and will enjoy listening to them again.....and again..

Excalbur

I have been reading/and listening to Bernard Cornwell books since his first Sharpe one. This is just as good as any he has written.

Abridged

This is a fantastic book but I felt that it was missing bits - and indeed it is abridged. Get the Jonathan Keeble version which also has better narration.
