Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Grey Ghost by Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell, read by Scott Brick.

In 1906, a groundbreaking Rolls-Royce prototype known as the Grey Ghost vanishes from the streets of Manchester, England, and it is only the lucky intervention of an American detective named Isaac Bell that prevents it from being lost forever. Not even he can save the good name of Marcus Peyton, however, the man wrongly blamed for the theft, and more than a hundred years later, it is his grandson who turns to Sam and Remi Fargo to help prove his grandfather's innocence.

But there is even more at stake than any of them know. For the car has vanished again, and in it is an object so rare that it has the capacity to change lives. Men with everything to gain and a great deal to lose have a desperate plan to find it - and if anybody gets in their way? They have a plan for that, too.

Great story

The good points 1st
Excellent story that goes along at a great pace with as with all Fargo Adventures.

You don’t need to have listened to the whole series as lots of recaps.

Really enjoyed the ride and the story of the ghosts adventures in time.

The bad points.

ENGLISH...

We don’t speak like we are all in a Mary Poppings Movie (goor Blimley Governor).
If you are writing for an English character use correct words.

For our American cousins.

Trash is Rubbish
It’s a Fire Engine
Backyard is garden
Block is street
Dumpster is Bin

Why would a 1906 Viscount use American words. Hell the little county had only been around a few years.

Scott Bricks English accent was terrible to be honest but he gave it a go.

Overcome that and it’s a great listen

Great Story but ......

Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell have written a great adventure book spanning the centuries and hopefully you'll enjoy the story as much as I did.
I really enjoyed the audio book except for one thing, Scott Brick is a great narrator and I sometimes by audio books because he narrated them, but this book he seemed to miss the mark, the book is based around Manchester, England, Scott has tried to provide various dialects, American for Sam and Remi, Posh for the gentry and it seems COCKNEY for everyone in Manchester who isn't the gentry.
That's the only let down for this book and to be fair will only people from the UK will get this.

Cussler back to his best...

I couldn't wait to get back into the Fargo adventures, so had this on pre-order as soon as it became available to do so.
After being a little disappointed with the previous Fargo instalment, The Grey Ghost reminded me why I love Clive Cussler's books.
Once again the Fargo's find themselves in a fast-paced globetrotting adventure, on the hunt for the famous Rolls Royce Grey Ghost- which has vanished again!
Great incorporation of one of Isaac Bell's adventures, and I loved the fact that he was part of this book. The Isaac Bell series is another of Cussler's masterpiece collections, and one of my all time favourites..
As I've said with previous Fargo reviews, anyone who likes the sound of a bit of Dan Brown mixed with plenty of action and adventure will really enjoy this series of books.
The Grey Ghost, along with the other books in the series, can be enjoyed standalone, though much pleasure can be gleaned from enjoying these great stories in order.
Once again, great narration from Scott Brick, and great to hear his portrayal of Isaac Bell once again.
Looking forward to the next one in the series, and also the next Isaac Bell adventure too!

Another great Cussler book

Fantastic book. First class narrator. I have read almost all of Cussler's books. This is the third one I have listened too.

Great story - awful English accents

Great story, as always, but, on this occasion, I found Scott Brick’s narration of English accents really irritating. I think it would have been better to have read it as a book, rather than listen to the audiobook.

another great Fargo tale.

as usual, this is another example of cusslers ability to write a can't stop listening tale. I prefer when the Fargo are looking for ancient treasures but the link to Sam's family and a British one at that, makes it compelling listening.
