Summary

Sent to investigate what he thinks is a case of fraud at a US naval base, all-around good-guy and Washington troubleshooter Joe DeMarco soon realises that he's stumbled on something far more lethal.Accompanied by Emma, an ex Defence Intelligence Agent, DeMarco comes up against a ruthless and vengeful woman, whose hatred of his colleague dates back to when both women were submerged in the Cold War.DeMarco has never been near a spy in his life, and now he is faced with one of the deadliest in the business - and what's more, he's not convinced this is someone he can fight. This time, however, it's not just his own life at stake.

Pretty good story. Bad narration

The Joe DeMarco books are pretty good stories and this is up to par. The problem is with William Hope’s narration. 70% of the time it’s fine but he keeps drifting into this irritating dreamy delivery as if he had od’d on mogadon. This spoils the book ad it’s not suitable for a thriller. Also he attempts different voices some of which are a bit ridiculous.
