Publisher's Summary

Molly Keatley is deeply contented with her life, her loving husband and her comfortable home. That all changes one morning when her husband comes rushing home, mutters a hasty apology...and disappears. Minutes later, two strange men arrive with news that her husband is in fact a Soviet spy. Her husband, it appears, has spent nearly a decade using her for his own purposes, and now the British intelligence service want to use her for theirs. It would be so easy to give in but the shock of Sam's betrayal has woken Molly out of her long, complacent dream, and she is no longer prepared to be anybody's pawn.

we're all allowed the odd slip up...

Sadly I found this book tedious in the extreme and a far cry from the usually excellent Reginald Hill books. I am a huge fan, originally for the Dalziel and Pascoe books although The Stranger House is in my top ten books ever. Find it hard to believe that both books are by the same author. I tried to persevere to find out what happened, but somewhere in Europe I stopped caring.... :(

Don't bother

Would you try another book written by Reginald Hill or narrated by Julia Barrie?

I have purchased many other Reginald Hill books in the past

What was most disappointing about Reginald Hill’s story?

Why bother writing this? It's like he wrote it when he was a student and brought it out to capitalise on his fame in order to make more money.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Awful, northern accents

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Spy's Wife?

Whole thing

Any additional comments?

Save your money. Even if you've enjoyed other things that he's written.
