Delightful

Just the job for a few days poorly in bed! PK reads excellently, with different accents and male voices . Having been Agatha in the fab Radio 4 dramatisations, she is THE Agatha for me , reading this unabridged book with aplomb. Will certainly be getting more.

Another bit of easy, fun listening.

I wish M C. Beaton would change the description of Agatha Raisin to be Penelope Keith. It's Penelope Keith I see in my imagination throughout these gentle stories, and I'd love to see her playing the part. She 'makes' them.
Rather weak story plots but totally forgivable as a perfect way to escape what's going on in the world at the moment. (Covid-19)

Multi faceted story

The story includes many different characters, mainly set in a small village, it includes friendships, loyalties, love, and hate, and murder, all read to perfection by Penelope Keith. The main character Agatha Raisin is a complex character, who tends to blunder about in her bid to solve the crime but she always manages to find the murderer in the end.

Agatha as she Normally Is

Agatha finally did get to marry James Lacey man next door but soon turned sour by the sound of it. It is an engaging story as James decides to visit a monastery and lie low as he had received bad news but somehow his disappearance and mess and blood at his house the police decide to blame and arrest Agatha but is released as no body is found so Agatha along with Charles Frith decide to investigate James disappearance. It is not long before Agatha upsets a few people along the way but good story and as always Penelope Keith narrates.

Marriage not working

After all this trouble - the marriage doesn' t work. Kind of disappointing, but who could compete with God?

Two stories in one seem a bit confusing, but Agatha ist working it all out. Will Charles become husban no.3?

review

I liked the story but I didn't warm to Raisin. I foun d her arrogant and opinionated.

Penelope Keith narrated brilliantly.
