Summary

Caught in a violent and abusive relationship, Serenity thinks there is no escape. Upon meeting a stranger, Sebastian, she is shown the possibility of a different future.

Only Sebastian has a dark secret; he is a vampire.

As Serenity’s life takes a terrifying turn, she finds herself drawn into a world she never knew existed; one of murder, love and immortality. She is forced to confront her own weaknesses to save both her own life and that of the vampire she has come to love. But in the end all that matters is; can she find the strength to be Alone?

A fresh take on paranormal romance

What did you like best about Alone? What did you like least?

The plot was good and often unexpected. Unfortunately, I failed to connect with the main character despite initially feeling sorry for Serenity and her plight. A great shame, really.

Would you recommend Alone to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this to serious fans of paranormal romance (not the Twilight-light types).

What aspect of Julia Farmer’s performance might you have changed?

Julia Farmer did a great job of acting out Serenity's parts. Unfortunately, I felt the narration was a little over-acted and Sebastian's parts were varied in tone and accent, which I found confusing.

Was Alone worth the listening time?

Yes, on balance.
