Summary

British comedian Miranda Hart narrates this touching tale about how much she loves her dog Peggy. And who can blame her? Animal lovers around the world will relate to her humorous anecdotes about the myriad of ways that Peggy has changed her life for the better.

The hilarious and heartwarming account of Miranda and her life changing dog, the inimitable and most lovable Peggy.

Hello dear audiobook browser and welcome to Peggy and Me. The story of my life since getting a beautiful Shih-Tzu Bichon Frise cross puppy (I call the breed a Shitty Frise - fun) in the form of Peggy.

Some of you may be thinking: 'a book about a dog, how totally brilliant, I need hear no more, I'm sold. In which case we should be best friends and go out to tea together, every day.

Others of you may be thinking: 'a book about a dog, how totally mad, she must have officially lost it.' In which case I completely understand. For I once viewed dog owners with much suspicion. The way they obsessively talk about their dogs often using voices for them to reply; the way they have a light covering of dog hair all over their clothes and sofas; and worse, an alarming comfort and ease around excrement.

But I now get why people become so mad about their hounds. It wasn't instant love I have to admit. Getting a puppy when I was at a low ebb in my life wasn't easy - there was a lot of challenging, what I call, dog administration (dog-min), and the humiliating first trip to the vet still haunts me. It's been a bumpy old road, but Peggy has been lovingly by my side through some life changing moments and I wouldn't have coped without her. Most surprisingly she has taught me a huge amount - not how to get an old pie packet out of a bin and lick it (I could already do that), but real lessons about life and love and trust and friendship.

Put aside any doggy reservations and come walkies with Peggy and me....

Non dog lovers need not apply!

This is a glorious story of the dog human relationship told in Miranda's inimitable style. Even the dark, lonely scary parts of the story are given a comical skew by her off kilter view of the world. Peggy's canine contributions bring the tail (you're welcome! 😉) to vibrant life, immediately conjuring a crystal clear image of the little pooch skittering about and snaffling treats. It also provides an interesting alternate account of Miranda's rise to fame. One word of warning though. Unless you are a proud possessor of the dog goof gene, don't bother as this is (as, to be fair, suggested by the title) shamelessly dog centric and credits Peggy with providing the answers to life, the universe and everything. This, of course, is not true as it is obviously my beloved mutleys that are responsible for that! My advice, buy, make a mug of hot chocolate, listen and enjoy.

Miranda Hart is quite frankly marvelous :)

I had a crazy Shit Zhu with golden hair and seal pup eyes and Mirandas enchanting and funny and squishable huggable tales of Peggy and me reminds me of that little furry friend (and no thats not a euphemism for anything rudey!)
Thank you Miranda for your audible friendship as I work away on designs that have me solitair for hours on end. By the very way I do have a boyfriend who may love you more than me..so you definitely owe me that Sushi in Tokyo ;)

Lol funny

This book is comedy gold. The different situations that are told are so true. As a dog owner, I can so imagine myself saying these things. Whilst halfway through I had my beautiful boy, a Rough Collie called Jake, put to sleep, and was devastated but this book managed to get a smile on my face. So for that Miranda, I am truly grateful!!!

Loved it

Great Miranda tales, reminds me of initial experiences with my first pup. Loved the book, laughed at the wasabi incident, sympathised with the poo-apocalypse and awwww'd at the scary wave.

What a joy

This book has brought such joy lol belly laughs and complete infinity with you as a dog person x thanks so much for sharing the insecurities and honesty what it feels like to be different and wonderfully so, it’s such a positive to hear your own words Miranda and I thank you for that and the clever witty silly spillage of you mind. I have gifted this audio book ( with credit) not a copyright thief.. to a equally wonderful dog owner because I want her to experience the same joy as I have listening to you and the Pegster.. thanks for being the amazing person you are and I’m so glad you now have a new companion to take be with you through the next chapter

Endless enjoyment

I first listened to this audiobook about four years ago when I was around 10 on a long car journey through the UK and it was the highlight of the trip. We listened to it in the car and we couldn’t stop laughing! Since then I’ve listened to the whole thing about five times and I have never gotten bored of it and every time I’ve listened to it, it has never failed to make me laugh. I love BBC Miranda and this just added to my admiration of Miranda Hart herself. I highly recommend this book/audiobook because it is an adorable and funny documentation of the relationship between Miranda and Peggy and also a look into the hilarious situations and obstacles Miranda gets herself in to create the wonderful sitcoms, shows, books and much more. Also, may I add, I am definitely more of a cat person rather than a dog person so you know this is a good book if I’m rating a book mainly about a dog five stars!
