Summary

A dark and gripping debut psychological thriller with a horrifying premise and a stinging twist.

Alex Taylor wakes up tied to an operating table. The man who stands over her isn't a doctor. The choice he forces her to make is utterly unspeakable. But when Alex re-awakens, she's unharmed - and no one believes her horrifying story.

Ostracised by her colleagues, her family and her partner, she begins to wonder if she really is losing her mind. And then she meets the next victim.

So compulsive you can't stop listening. So chilling you won't stop talking about it.

farfetched and slow

too slow for my liking - I forwarded to the last 10 chapters & was able to follow. kinda guessed the ending too. But I was say it was a bad book.

A gripping and harrowing storyline

This book accompanied me in the car from Suffolk to Hereford and back again! It was so enthralling that I had to listen to the last few chapters as soon as I got home!
Well done to Liz Lawler for keeping me riveted!

Quite good

The lead character appeared a little unbelievable but overall a reasonable book though many books these days ate similar with better suspense

Lots of action!

Ive listened to a few thrillers recently where there has been a lot of character development and not much action. This was the opposite, you were never left wondering if something exciting was going to happen soon, because it was pacy and action packed. However I do think maybe there wasn’t enough characterisation. The main character’s relationship with anyone in her life appeared loose, due to lack of back stories that connected her with any of them. None of the characters really seemed to care about eachother, bar a few tender moments that should have been built upon in my opinion. This would have made the amazing story line feel like it would actually have impacted the character’s lives, as i was left wondering if anyone really cared that much. Maybe it was the reader, whose voice i wasn’t enthralled by as it lacked emotion and didn’t give depth to the characters voices. That said, it is still one i would definitely recommend!

Not for me

Really enjoyed the promising start but oh how it went on. I knew the villain long before the detectives and that is not good. Becoming bored, skipped to the finish line and at least was proved right. Perhaps, had this novel been a few hours shorter, I would have thoroughly enjoyed the ride - but it wasn't and I didn't.

Outstanding.

An unusual, but brilliant plot, read with great talent. 'Dr Turner' really came alive.
