Great fiction empathetically narrated

I have read one other book by Linda green which was excellent and this too was exemplary.

There were some difficult issues.dealt with empathy and with the understanding of how things were dealt with very differently many years ago.

It left me with a small tear in my eye at the end of this story as it is not isolated and I am sure parts of this story have affected many others.

Good read

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, hard to put down, very plausible tale and sadly some things in it still haunt people as they still go on.

Emotional read on many levels

It was an emotional story from which many woman can relate too in a sad way.. As I read between the lines on the who's the why's I enjoyed this book even more ...on all Opertunities I kept listening on my echo.. The wee twist at the end I wouldn't have guessed but it all made sense as the story unfolded.
The narrator was very good, however on occasions the volume went low and it was difficult to hear. Defo Worth listen and yes have some tissues handy as the story unfolds..

Enjoyed

I found the story a little confusing at first with the main story about a cruel man but letters from a kind man in between. Once I worked out they were different people, I enjoyed the story, good listen.

Enjoyed every sentence

I listened to this book all the way through in one sitting.
It was very realistic in showing how the different generations lived and how attitudes have changed over the last century.
It also reaches into family secrets that are not only kept from outsiders but when kept from other family members can cause deep rifts that can take a very long time to heal or sometimes will never be mended.
Although it testifies how attitudes change over time it also emphasises that human nature doesn't change. We feel all the same emotions that Adam and Eve have felt since eating from the tree of knowledge. Happiness, sorrow, shame, pride, love, hate, embarrassment, trust, etc are the same today as they were in the past and will be the same in the future.
