Summary

A hilarious and honest collection of stories, thoughts, and tales of a life in comedy from the award-winning comic Adam Hills.

Adam Hills is one the UK's best loved comedians. For 30 years he has been performing stand-up, hosting TV shows and winning the hearts of a nation.

Taking us from the early days of the Sydney Stand Up scene to hosting his own radio show, touring the world and eventually landing on British TV, Best Foot Forward is a story of a life in comedy. Along the way Adam shares some childhood tales and a few backstage blunders and encounters some fairly famous faces - the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Connolly, and that guy who sang The Macarena. Yes, him.

This is an utterly hilarious and honest collection of stories about Adam's ups and downs in the world of comedy. It's a lesson in following your heart, being positive and discovering that what makes you different also makes you unique.

Upbeat but not gripping

There are plenty of interesting stories in this book but I just didn’t find it particularly gripping or funny. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either in my humble opinion!

A better Audiobook than book

Although this is a good account of the history behind the stand up comic - it's the story telling and performance from Adam reading it himself that makes this a great listen

From extra little bits to the outstanding accents you will be entertained from start to finish

Gives a little more than the book

Adam’s narration expands topics and delights listeners with his famed singing skills and accents. This happy and positive story won’t unveil any mystery or intrigue; it’ll make you smile stupidly as you skip through Adams comedy career.

Well worth a punt

Great book

Full of entertaining antidotes from Adams life and career, a must if you are a fan of The Last Leg.

A Feel Good Listen

I always love a book read by the author and Adam's personality shines through as he reads this. His positive and enthusiastic vibes are infectious throughout the book and stories had me actually laughing out loud. A great book to dip in an out of, in my case on the morning commute to work and it always left me feeling with a smile on my face. A great way to start the day!

Adam Hills doing what he does best

One of the most engaging books I have listend to in some time.

Funny, emotional and interesting. Such a positive human, loved hearing him talk about people I grew up watching such as Billy Connolly and Robin Williams. He talks about his family, career, his his disability and how it isn't a disability. Rugby, comedy and the many famous people he has met over the years.

The book is actually read by Adam, you can hear his warm smile and twinkley eyes in his voice. Not only does he acknowledge that it is the audio book version but he points out that you are getting extras. Full of accents - always makes me laugh when he feels the need to do an Ozzie accent.

Love the man, love the attitude, love the book. I was not disappointed.
