Beyond the Pale chronicles Ken Grossman's journey from hobbyist homebrewer to owner of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., one of the most successful craft breweries in the United States. From youthful adventures to pioneering craft brewer, Ken Grossman shares the trials and tribulations of building a brewery that produces more than 800,000 barrels of beer a year while maintaining its commitment to using the finest ingredients available. Since Grossman founded Sierra Nevada in 1980, part of a growing beer revolution in America, critics have proclaimed his beer to be "among the best brewed anywhere in the world."
Beyond the Pale describes Grossman's unique approach to making and distributing one of America's best-loved brands of beer, while focusing on people, the planet and the product.

From Home Brew to World-Class

This audiobook hits the spot on several levels. As a business success story it leads the reader from the struggle of early days to more heady times of business success. The book is well written and narrated, and would appeal to budding entrepreneurs and anyone with a thirst for craft ale.

A love of beer, and friends and family with money

He lost me on his whole "health and wellness" stuff.
I had hoped to hear more about his relationships with his wife and childdren.

That aside, what a wonderful book packed with brew science, tenacious ingenuity and a never give up attitude.

it is amazing what you can do when you have drive, and friends and family that. continually loan you money, sell their shares when you finally start making money but need moreetc..
Bless him, he is just so in love with making beer...it is hard to fault a man who loves beer...

Lots of ancilliary details

Great success story, but lacks hearty details. Take away: good beer equals sales when there are no good beers. Business partners aren't family. Money allows you to run a cool business.
