Summary
18 and Life on Skid Row tells the story of a boy who spent his childhood moving from Freeport, Bahamas, to California and finally to Canada and who, at the age of eight, discovered the gift that would change his life.
Throughout his career Sebastian Bach has sold over 20 million records both as the lead singer of Skid Row and as a solo artist. He is particularly known for the hit singles "I Remember You", "Youth Gone Wild", and "18 & Life" and the albums Skid Row and Slave to the Grind, which became the first ever hard rock album to debut at number one on the Billboard Top 200 and landed him on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Bach then went on to become the first rock star to grace the Broadway stage, with starring roles in Jekyll & Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also appeared for seven seasons on the hit television show Gilmore Girls.
In his memoir Bach recounts lurid tales of excess and debauchery as he toured the world with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Soundgarden, Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, and Guns N' Roses. 18 and Life on Skid Row is the story of hitting it big at a young age and of a band that broke up in its prime. It is the story of a man who achieved his wildest dreams, only to lose his family and then his home. It is a story of perseverance; of wine, women, and song; and of a man who has made his life on the road and always will. 18 and Life on Skid Row is not your ordinary rock memoir, because Sebastian Bach is not your ordinary rock star.

I was 18 again
I got bewitched by Sebastian’s singing when I was 18 years old and Skid Row first album was released. And I would lie if I say that it wasn’t for his looks too. Come on! He was GORGEOUS! I still love rock music and metal music, but I’m not 18 anymore. Reading biographies of a rockstars takes me back to the beautiful times when we were young and thought that world belongs to us, and being a rockstar is amazing and easy life. Now I know it’s not easy and rockstars have a demons for their shadows. I’m grateful for the music and for being my companions throughout my youth. And I want to thank you Sebastian Bach for sharing your stories with us. No matter what happened, no matter what media showed us about you, you were an inspiration. Because of you, my son’s name is Sebastian (and yes, my husband know that) Reading/listening in this case, to this book took me back again. Thank you for the soundtrack to my life. :)

Great performance
Overall this a great audio book for anyone who witnessed these times and loves the music. It's a great performance by Mr Bach (nobody else could do this justice) but there are a few contradictions throughout that give the indication that perhaps not everything here is as it happened. Sometimes the tales we all want to hear are glossed over and at other times tales not that interesting are given great detail. But, still well worth a listen and interesting in many parts.

Honesty
Loved the book Bas. It was everything I wanted to hear and more. I was at Wembley in 91, that’s where my love for Skid Row started. I wish you all the best for the future, here’s to making it to 58 🤘🏻 Vanny 😊

Best purchase I've made on Audible!
I don't know how I'll ever listen to another book that's read without Sebastian Bach's unfathomable enthusiasm! Not only is it written perfectly (creatively but not pretentious and unnecessarily 'wordy'), the stories and timeline of Sebastian's life kept me constantly gripped and had me genuinely laughing out loud and choking back tears at times. But as mentioned, the best part for me was hearing Sebastian Bach read it himself...complete with bonus Audible listener material and hilarious moments of Sebastian in fits of laughter as he regales us with some of the craziest and best told rock star stories that have left me feeling as though I was really there, and even as though I now know him personally since being taken on the journey of his life by the man himself.
I'm going to miss listening to that voice every day! Can someone commission him to narrate some classic novels so I can get my fix please?

Plenty of Monkey Business!!
If you’re a Skid Row fan and bought the regular book, I recommend giving this Audio book a listen as well. Sebastian’s over the top persona come across like a live gig, climbing out of the speakers and shouting in your ears! Yes, there is the ‘Meat and Potatoes’ traditional rock and roll tales of band stuff but it was a fun listen and I look forward to hearing it again at some-point. What a nutter! – Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic
I’ve read the number of rockstar biographies and this is by far one of the best and most enjoyable. The fact that Sebastian himself reads the book to you makes it all the more enjoyable because of his personality. You really do get a proper insight into his life and it’s extremely interesting. If you’re thinking about buying this book, do not hesitate, just go ahead and buy it as you would absolutely love it.
