Summary

Churchill: A Life follows Winston Churchill from his earliest days to his moments of triumph. Here, the drama and excitement of his story are ever-present. Martin Gilbert gives us a vivid portrait, using Churchill's most personal letters and the recollections of his contemporaries, both friends and enemies, to go behind the scenes of some of the stormiest and most fascinating political events of our time.

Part 2 takes us from the end of the First World War to Churchill’s death in 1965. Christian Rodska reads the second part of Martin Gilbert’s epic, definitive biography of Winston Churchill.

Enchanting

An amazing biography about an amazing leader that gives you some deeper insight into the second world war. Of course no one is perfect but as close as one can get.

What a story!

An incredible story of an incredible man. The narration was outstanding and brought this story to life. I recommend these two volumes highly.

Entertaining and educational, ok I’m biased but wow! The norms of the times notwithstanding, very inspiring.

Again, what a man of his times.

Remarkable

A wonderful listen. Only occasion that I have been in tears by the end of a biography.

. 1939-2024 so far.Val Lewis-

I was born in 1939. Listening to this brilliant book, I have just lived through my eighty-four years all over again. I feel honoured to have lived along side him and the sixty+ amazing years of my life with my husband, both of us were journalists.

Winston a revelation for a new generation

A moving and detailed account of a great statesman, giving a refreshed awareness of the positive impact Churchill had on our father's generation and an example for all generations who might dismiss without a fair hearing the contribution he made.
