Summary

'In these memoirs I bounce all about British TV with such success that I wind up in radio. I will also be filling a few holes that I left in the previous decades. For example, I managed to forget in book one that I had been shot. Twice.'

Danny Baker's first volume of autobiography, Going to Sea in a Sieve, was a Sunday Times best seller, acclaimed for its nonstop humour and anecdotal flourish. It told the exploits of Danny's extraordinary childhood and the wild living of his teenage years. Now he is 25, and it is 1982, and he embarks on an accidental and anxiety-induced career in television - going off alarming. With rollicking good stories from what he describes as 'a frankly crackpot life', Danny continues this stupendous chronicle with irrepressible verve and hilarity. Dozens of TV shows - many of them lousy - give up their backstage stories, and Danny's extraordinary family, particularly his father, Spud, react to the ride throughout. Game shows, talk shows, adverts and TFI Friday are but a few of the unplanned pit stops along the way. Not forgetting the tale of Twizzle: the dog who hanged himself, died, then came back to life again.... Clearly, this will be no ordinary show business stroll down memory lane.

Brilliant book

I read the hardback when it came out but it’s so much better being read by Danny. 5 stars all the way

More cockney capers

Former TV man and professional cockney dwells on all the dud hands he's been dealt..... Only joking Dan, hugely entertaining. Especially liked reading about his friendship with Gazza. Great read.

Worth the wait

Not sure why this was not released with the book, but it is worth the wait. Danny Baker is a great storyteller on the page and spoken, with a way of looking at things side-on, and if you like Danny you will love and laugh out loud at this tale of his misadventures and life.

If you like Danny Baker, you must listen to this

If you're a fan of Danny Baker and have perhaps read his books, it's nothing compared to hearing him tell his own story. Excellent from start to finish. Recommended

Five out of five for an engaging listen

Great anecdotes and wonderful listen that had me laughing from beginning to end. I will be quoting a few of Spud's fruitier sayings, or may not

Another great Baker Ramble

Not quite the storyline of the first book, but all the anecdotes are top notch

Funny and informative

Despite recent reactions to his humour I found the book very good and I wasn’t offended.
