Summary

A confessional, uplifting memoir from the beloved YouTube personality.
Joey Graceffa has captured the hearts of more than a million teens and young adults through his playful, sweet, and inspirational online presence. Yet Joey wasn't always comfortable in his skin, and this memoir features the YouTube darling at his most candid, taking us on his journey from pain to triumph.
Joey opens up about his most intimate struggles with familial hardship, educational setbacks, bullying, and rejection, sharing his story in the hopes that his young listeners will remember that it's cool to be different, that growing up can really freaking suck, and that even if it sometimes feels like too much, things can and will get better. As Joey likes to say, "You're all beautiful for spacious skies, and don't let anyone ever tell you you're not!"

Absolutely Amazing

If you could sum up In Real Life in three words, what would they be?

Inspiring, Insightful and Real

What other book might you compare In Real Life to and why?

Shane Dawson's book i hate myselfie and Connor Franta's book work in progress, Connors is a memoir like Joey's and shane tells stories from his life, they are all brilliant books!

Have you listened to any of Joey Graceffa’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Joey is a youtuber and i have watched him for 5 years this book gives us an insight into his life behind the camera.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A Journey Through The Camera Lens

Any additional comments?

Watching Joey on youtube for 5 years helps me understand and love this book it gives us an insight into what he is unable to tell or show us through his videos i am truly proud of how far he has came and can't wait to see what the future holds for him!

I loved this book and will treasure it forever

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I definitely would. It honestly shows a reader what it's like to take yourself out of hard times by believing in yourself, accepting yourself, and doing what you love.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved hearing Joey's personality coming across the page.

What does Joey Graceffa bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It is so much more intimate than just reading it. I also feel like he is talking directly to me live rather than normally with a book where I consciously know it was written a minimum of months before. The audio makes me suspend my disbelief and I feel like he is telling the story. He didn't make a film called StoryTellers for nothing, because he is a damn good one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

My Journey into a Pixelated World

Any additional comments?

I love you all and I would recommend this book to anyone LGBT, a Joey fan, and a must read for anyone who grew up with an alcoholic in the home.
