Summary
Bear Grylls is a man who has always sought the ultimate in adventure. Growing up on the Isle of Wight, he was taught by his father to sail and climb at an early age. As a teenager he found identity and purpose through both mountaineering and martial arts, which led the young adventurer to the foothills of the mighty Himalaya and a grandmaster's karate training camp in Japan. On returning home, he embarked upon the notoriously gruelling selection course for the British Special Forces to join 21 SAS - a journey that was to push him to the very limits of physical and mental endurance. Then, in a horrific free-fall parachuting accident, Bear broke his back in three places. It was touch and go whether he would ever walk again. However, only eighteen months later Bear became one of the youngest ever climbers to scale Everest, aged only 23. But this was just the beginning of his many extraordinary adventures . . .Known and admired by millions, Bear Grylls has survived where few would dare to go. Now, for the first time, Bear tells the story of his action-packed life.
Gripping, moving and wildly exhilarating, Mud, Sweat and Tears is a must-read for adrenalin junkies and armchair adventurers alike. Narrated by Tom Patrick Stephens, who Bear approved himself (since he was off adventuring!)

Eventful throughout
A very in depth look at why BG has chosen the life he has and how he has become so driven in whatever he chooses to do. The majority of this book is based around his experiences in the SAS selection process and Everest. It would have been nice to hear more of the stories he has as in depth as these but if this was the case the book would be massive. Other adventures were touched on including his TV life but in minimal detail. This is a guy who focuses on his goals despite any adversities without motivation; inspirational!

Gritty & Inspiring
Bear gives an intimate insight into his personal challenges, and private life. Vivid accounts of SAS selection from the comfort of your own home are brought to life by the animation of the narrator, until you might feel yourself pulsing with adrenalin from behind a cup f tea. Absolutely brilliant autobiography, which will inspire any listener to deal with their own challenges and rise above them.

Interesting
I never knew how religious Bear Grylls is, and to be honest i found some parts a little preachy - however thats only a minor complaint i have and the rest of the content is really interesting and i definitely recommend.
The book covers mostly his time spent training for the SAS and his epic climb of mount everest, which are both well written and make you respect Grylls not only as an expert survivalist but also as a solid bloke.
So if you like a good solid background story but don't mind the aspects of religion that crop up a fair bit - i say go for it.

Fortune Favours The Brave
This book has a lot of parallels to my life so i really connected with it.. The Near Death Experiences a bit of a Maverick etc and living life by the seat of his pants i really identified with. Selection was fascinating and absolutely inspiring to listen about. I have completed the Fan Dance 3 times and it was great to hear Bear had done it too.. A Truly remarkable life lead by this man.. It is Life After all and when you are going through hell keep going.. --☆☆☆☆☆

What a great guy
Really enjoyed this book , it’s honest , not all glittery and hyped up but shows the efforts Bear went through to achieve his goals
Thoroughly enjoyed it but if I had to add one negative thing it’s a shame he ; Bear , didn’t narrate this book himself

funny, heart warming and inspiring
A great listen, Bear is humble, mad and driven. he clearly puts family first, yet is focused and inspiring tackling everything with 110% effort. Not afraid to make mistakes and clearly learns from any he does make.

Insight into Everest expeditions & SAS training
I found Bear's accounts of SAS training and climbing Everest interesting. His stories about his family and childhood were entertaining. I couldn't at times help thinking that people who've suffered serious injuries and not been so lucky in their recovery may not take so kindly to Bear's tales of taking such risks when recovering. I did find myself feeling he takes his privilege, fortune and luck for granted at times, often framing is as all due to his hard work, intuition and faith, though he definitely has put a lot into it all. I did on the whole enjoy this book.
