Summary

In this memoir, David Lynch - cocreator of Twin Peaks and writer and director of groundbreaking films like Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive - opens up about a lifetime of extraordinary creativity, the friendships he has made along the way and the struggles he has faced - sometimes successful, sometimes not - to bring his projects to fruition.

Part memoir, part biography, Room to Dream interweaves Lynch's own reflections on his life with the story of those times, as told by Kristine McKenna, drawing from extensive and explosive interviews with 90 of Lynch's friends, family members, actors, agents, musicians and collaborators. Lynch responds to each recollection and reveals the inner story of the life behind the art.

outstanding book

Real thoughtful examination of Lynch's life and art. Not too self indulgant while positive and inspirational.

if you interested in lynch's films or filmmaking in general this is worth it...and having lynch narrate his sections on the audio book is great... I might go and get the print addition to reference... but with this audio book it's been wonderful to be immersed in lynchs world for a few days..

I love David lynch

Such an amazing way to do a biography/ autobiography through a conversation between the biographer and Lynch himself.

American Dreamer: Incredible Audio Experience

I rarely write reviews, but this audio edition of Room to Dream is exceptional. It's the perfect blend of memoir and autobiography and the stories and insights from Lynch are riveting. Even the stories of his childhood and adolescence before he became a film-maker are really interesting. It's incredibly special to have Lynch himself reminiscing on each stage of his career. When you see the sheer scope of the projects that he's been involved in, there's little doubt that he deserves to be considered one of the greatest American artists in living memory. If you're remotely interested in the work of David Lynch, you will enjoy this audiobook.

Thorough straightforward account of Lynch's life

Solid and detailed biography/autobiography. Enjoyed Lynch's reading style and it is insightful. Perhaps a little long and rambling at times but never hard work.

Fantastic!

David Lynch is a bomb of intuitive creativity, goodness and positivity and in this book he generously gives away himself to let us into his fantastic universes. He didn’t live the “art life”, he shaped his life as an art masterpiece. Well done dear David!
