Summary

This explosive new audiobook challenges many of the long-held assumptions about blacks, about Jews, about Germans and Nazis, about slavery, and about education. Plainly written, powerfully reasoned, and backed with a startling array of documented facts, Black Rednecks and White Liberals takes on the trendy intellectuals of our times as well as historic interpreters of American life.

Through a series of essays, Sowell presents an in-depth look at key beliefs behind many policies and trends. He presents eye-opening insights into the development of the ghetto culture, a culture cheered on toward self-destruction by white liberals who consider themselves "friends" of blacks.

Black Rednecks and White Liberals is the capstone of decades of outstanding research and writing on racial and cultural issues by Thomas Sowell.

Rational, self controlled and accurate

Refreshing to have such clarity, laying bear the fallacies of the naïve, and disingenuousness of the knowing critics of our society

Insightful

I came to this without knowing what to expect on a recommendation, indeed the title worried me a little. That said this is a hugely insightful book that has caused me to reconsider much of what I thought I knew.

He says the unsayable

A clear, closely argued and factually supported critique of the “usual” arguments cited as explanations for under- performance among blacks in America.

5/5

This is a truly exceptional and eye-opening book. Every leftist and left-leaning person should read this - I've no doubt it would shake their core beliefs at the very least.

Excellent book

Superb and entertaining book. The reading voice is somehow monotonous but you forget about it when the subject is so interesting. It is great to see somebody against the politically correct tide.

Recommended to everybody

I am so grateful I've recently discovered Thomas Sowell! I will read every book from this brilliant man.
This book provides a clear clarification of history, not only from America but also from the world itself.
I was stunned by learning that the today Black culture in the US, is actually not so black! What an irony!
We have such short memory that we forget we're all shaped by our surrounding reality.
This nonsense of victimhoop constantly spread by intellectuals and the media is hurting so many people.
Read the book so you understand what I am talking about.

Well constructed series of essays which value history and the facts of history, giving insight and fresh dialogue into race relations, education and true social justice. Very well read and a delight to listen to.
