Good short story

Having already listened to all of the Ben Hope novels, I decided to try these short stories. This is a very decent prequel to the series.
I do prefer the other later narrators (Colin Mace & Will Ryctoft), and as with the other short story & more so in this one, the narrator (L Pugh), makes Ben Hope sound like a rasping unfeeling nutter ... which he isn’t... Only personal preference I guess.

Good storyline but spoilt by the narrator

I enjoyed the storyline: especially the twists & turns.
The narrator was disappointing & did not understand Ben Hope's character. Ben, through the narrator's performance, was shown as angry, dismissive; aloof & abrupt even in his interactions with Karl.
I would re-record using Will Rycoff or Colin Mace. Their depiction of Ben Hope captures the essence of the character.

Bring Colin Mace Back

Not at all up to Scott Mariani normal (Ben Hope) standard.
Colin Mace is the best Performer as Ben Hope.

What's The Point Of This?

Such a weak, sad attempt to churn out anything for a few pounds by the author!

So glad this was free; would have been raging if I had paid for it.

Awful.

A pleasant evening book nothing more

A nice short story fairly predictable in places pretty average ideal for a first time listener

Another Great Short Story

Ben Hope books are great regardless of the length, I wouldn't buy a short story so it's a great free book. Like others I think the narrator doesn't do justice to Ben but 90% of the other titles are narrated by a better person. You have to know these books to know there is an element of science fiction to some but kind of far fetched credible as well. Great book recommended.

Short but not bad

In this short story this narrator gave Ben Hope a very different voice than the other books which, for me, sadly completely changed the tone of the lead character …
