Short story with unusual twist
This 2 hour story was well constructed within the parameters of a short story. The time gaps were well explained and the Welsh accent of Jake Urry was well matched to the tale despite the fact that the main character was a woman. I hope you enjoy the conclusion as much as I did; it was novel.

Second reading is even more chilling!
I’ve just finished Bully Boy Blue by John Nicol, narrated by Jake Urry for the second time and it’s even more chilling than the first time! The characters are so well drawn that I was really immersed in the story feeling the same frustration, anger, and exasperation as before, even tho I knew what was going to happen. John Nicol is a master writer of dark and chilling stories and Jake Urry is the perfect narrator for them. That man could make the tv times sound threatening! Although this is a short story, it’s one you won’t forget in a hurry!

Short and Intensive
Any additional comments?
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
This was an amazing book!! It deals with an abusive marriage between a police officer and his wife. It is dealt with so well by John Nicholl and he makes it a lot easier to read this, as it is a short and intensive read.
The narrator is spectacular, giving distinct voices to both Kathy and Michael.

Short but packs a punch
I was delighted to win this audiobook as I always wanted to acquaint myself with John Nicholl's work. As it is a relatively short listen, it only took me two sunbathing sessions to listen to the brilliant narrator's performance. Having been a victim of a bullying father, I felt huge empathy for the poor wife. The story grabbed me by the throat from the start and the tension was maintained until a satisfying conclusion. Well worth a listen.

Great Short Story
From the 1st chapter you always know what John Nicholl's books are about, he doesn't hold back on the punches or try to lead you gently to a subject thats best not discussed,
He is hard hitting and fast paced, you get to know the characters so well you feel like you are living their story, which makes the terror they are experiencing even harder to read.
Bully Boy Blue is about an abusive husband and a wife who falls pregnant and knows for the sake of her child she has to leave him.
My only criticism is I wish this book was longer I could listen to Jake Urry narrate John Nicoll's books till the cows come home, always such a great partnership.
I throughly recommend this book it was a good story.

Any additional comments?
WOW!! This short book packs a HUGE punch. The author manages to take you through a gamut of emotions. I've listened to it twice already. The words, the story, the narration, If you only listen to one audio book - make it this one!

Chilling
One word review - chilling.
Not a pretty book. We get an up close and personal view of domestic abuse and it's horrifying.
Kathy is dominated physically and emotionally by husband Mike, who also happens to be a police officer. Nicholl doesn't really pull any punches regarding the portrayal of their relationship. One thing that hasn't been broken is her spirit and she makes a plan.
It's an uncomfortable listen, but also an important reminder of the plight of many spouses and offspring, usually occurring out of sight. Here we have some hope at the end of the story and thank goodness for that.
Excellent tale, superb narration (Jake Urry), plenty of food for thought. I might have to try something else by this author.

Brilliant short story
A thought provoking dark novella about an abusive relationship between husband and wife. Kathy must be smart and try to find a way out of her awful situation without tipping her husband off about her plans. You must read/listen to it to find out whether she succeeds or not.
This is a fast paced, well written short story narrated brilliantly by Jake Urry. I would definitely recommend it.
