Summary

A classic fairy tale gets a sexy, edgy twist.

Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick’s New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fund-raiser, Bianca can’t refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother’s medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum - money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract - and a stunning ring.

The heir to a family bourbon dynasty, Jackson knows the rumors swirling around him. The truth is even darker. Still, he needs a wife to secure his inheritance, and free-spirited, sassy Bianca would play the part beautifully. Soon, though, their simple business deal evolves into an emotional intimacy he’s built walls to avoid.

As the passion heats up between them, Bianca and Jackson struggle to define which feelings are real and which are for show. Is falling for your fake fiancé the best happy ending...or a recipe for disaster?

Surprisingly great book

I’ve listened to books by this author before and they’ve been a mixture of ok to good, but they’ve really pulled one out of the bag with this book. Genuinely really good!

It follows the typical path you’d expect from a romance book, but it was the best version of the marriage of convenience turning to love storyline I’ve ever heard. I’ve listened to way over 1000 books and I’ve got quite picky with what I expect. It’s fairly cheesy and predictable towards the end, but in that satisfying joyful way you’d want from a great romance film so that’s ok in this genre (what you want when you listen to a book like this after all). I rarely give 5 stars and hate all the inflated reviews out there for average books, but this one really deserves its rating.

Sebastian York was exceptional as always (his voice is made for sexy male narration after all) but it’s the first time I’ve heard Diana Luke and she was brilliant! Her accent was beautiful and had a great range of voices.

Not sure whether it was the writing or the narration (probably both) but I was fully drawn into this book and the characters. I loved that the male lead was awkward too rather than the typical dark and mysterious or macho. It was more akin to books by Penny Reid (fantastic author with great characters) than the normal boring romance replicated banality out there.

The only negative was the recipes (which sounded delicious and made me hungry) which probably work well in a written book at the start of some of the chapters, but were pretty lengthy to be read out on audio so it disrupted the flow a bit. Since the recipes seemed good I’ve not knocked any stars off for that though.

Burn For You

This was the first time I listened to books from this author,I am pleasantly surprised it was a real pleasure to listen to although, there was one part I found annoying that was reading out the recipes, but the plot twist and q almost made up for that I recommend this book it is a y read.

Sebastian York doesn't read much but God his voice!!!

Enemies to Lovers - Slap Slap Kiss - Wonderful

Ooh, I love a storyline with an alpha male and a take no sh!t female lead, and this one definitely falls into that category. Jackson Boudreaux is rich and arrogant, but underneath his harsh exterior he’s got a soft centre. However, when he demands a table at Bianca Hardwick’s restaurant, neither of them are prepared for the sparks that fly. Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite genres. The storyline is tried and tested and there really aren’t many surprises but it’s so well written with wonderful characters, lots of sexy time and a few emotional scenes had me hooked. A lovely addition to the end of some of the chapters were recipes for drinks and food. The final recipe for a cocktail, “Slap Slap Kiss” is on my to do list. Although as I listened to the audio version of this book, I couldn’t screen shot any of the recipes, that though is the only downside of this audio. Perfect narration from both Sebastian York and Diana York definitely makes up for it.

loved the metaphors

Great accents, very well narrated. I love Sebastian Yorks voice but he does so many books very well that you can get used to it (and I tend not to like his co-narrators), Diana Luke's delivery was so good it made it refreshing to listen to Sebastian again.
Fab story, although still fits with the usual rubric of romance novels -it was a fresh take.
Very enjoyable.

Laugh out loud

I enjoyed this book a lot. There were many laugh out loud moments and the characters were likeable.

The narrators were excellent however, it was a little frustrating that she made his character out to have one accent when he had a completely different accent.
