Summary
In How to Have a Good Day, economist and former McKinsey partner Caroline Webb tells listeners how to use recent findings from behavioural economics, psychology and neuroscience to transform their approach to everyday working life.
Advances in these behavioral sciences are giving us ever better understanding of how our brains work, why we make the choices we do and what it takes for us to be smart and savvy. But it's not always been easy to see how to apply these insights in the workplace - until now.
In How to Have a Good Day, Webb explains how three big scientific ideas can help us be at our best every day. She shows us exactly how to apply this science to our plans, tasks and conversations in step-by-step guidance that allows us to: set better priorities; make the hours go further; turn every interaction into a success; strengthen our personal impact; be resilient in the face of setbacks; and sustain our energy over the course of the day. Webb teaches us how to be at our best under pressure and gives us specific tools to tackle common work challenges - from conflict with colleagues to dull meetings and packed inboxes.
Filled with stories of people who have used Webb's insights to boost their job satisfaction and performance at work, How to Have a Good Day is the audiobook so many people wanted when they finished Nudge, Blink and Thinking Fast and Slow and were looking for practical ways to apply this fascinating science to their own lives and careers.
A remarkable and much-needed book, How to Have a Good Day firmly delivers on its promise, showing us all how to have a lifetime of good days.

20 minutes of torture then i gave up
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
The only person that would enjoy the reading of this is the author.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I didn't get far enough to review the merits of the book, the voice was too much.
What didn’t you like about Caroline Webb’s performance?
The reader's voice is non-conversational, moves in predictable waves and totally one-dimensional. There is no warmth, feeling, or awareness of what the book says. Despite the reader being the author. Perhaps that's the problem. Please re-record using a different speaker or the author may need public speaking training.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It promised a lot. No idea if it lived up to it.
Any additional comments?
The audio book is torture.

Good Book => Good Day
I wandered into this book from the cognitive neuroscience direction. I don't tend to seek out "help you organise" books that simply report stuff that sounds good to the writer. But this one's different.
It talks about interesting findings in behavioural science, often with memorable examples where people verifiably behave in a ways which you might not expect; then it suggests how this might be used to make your day a little bit better...moving from mental trap to mental treasure.
There is SO MUCH good advice that I will struggle to apply all of it... But it's significantly changed the way I approach my day tactically, and changed the way I think about it strategically.
Thank you, Caroline, for an excellent book!

struggled with the narration
The books has lots of great ideas but it's just not packaged in the right way. Caroline Webb narrates the book but she struggles with storytelling and after a while I get lost. sorry I'm being honest. If you're new to this type of book then try it but I think other titles deliver it better.

Book of the Year
If you could sum up How to Have a Good Day in three words, what would they be?
Buy this book!
What about Caroline Webb’s performance did you like?
There is never anyone better to read a book than the author herself. Caroline's passion for her subject matter comes through and as a result it is continually engaging.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It's not really that sort of book, but it did make me listen.
Any additional comments?
The erudite Ms Webb has written and narrated a meticulously researched book. However it is never dry and whilst undoubtedly this will be one of the books of the year, the advice found within is likely to be timeless.

A collection of useful research
The thing that sets this apart from many such texts is the fact it is based on credible scientific research and experience not simply opinion.

Great points, not a good audible book
Any additional comments?
I bought this to listen to whilst on the train, and in the end I found it really difficult to listen to. It kept saying "We'll explore this in more detail in chapters 6, 7 and 9" over and over again. It was really disruptive to the message. The recording wasn't great quality, making what was probably a really engaging voice into something a bit underwhelming.

Agony - not for me
Would you try another book written by Caroline Webb or narrated by Caroline Webb?
Absolutely not. The author would have been better served by professional narration, I found it monotone and robot-like. Also - if there was a story, I got lost. Admittedly I only lasted about 25 painful minutes. This is the first time I have ever abandoned an audiobook.
What could Caroline Webb have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Nothing - it was a lost cause for me. To be fair, it wasn't my usual type of audiobook and judging by the reviews many enjoyed it.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Caroline Webb?
Derek Jacobi, Kirsty Young, Helena Bonham Carter, Jeremy Irons. What's the budget?
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment - I had high hopes. It seemed to be aimed at sales staff/middle-managers from the USA. Maybe I should have guessed as "Have a Good Day" is in the title. Not for me, might be for others.
Any additional comments?
Please note - I didn't get far into this audiobook - perhaps it got better.

Behavioural science made easy to apply
Fantastic book. Great explanations. One small criticism would be that the delivery was a little stilted at times which got a bit distracting
