Millennials are walking into a very different business environment than the one in which our parents worked. We can't rely on the stability of a linear career path within a single company. To be successful in this new world, we must take a proactive approach to managing our careers.
Not Your Parents' Workplace shares an intimate account of the highs and lows I've experienced as a young professional, including what it was like to go through the largest bankruptcy in history and how I bounced back from getting laid off. But more importantly, it teaches insightful lessons that will help you find your dream job and be successful in your career.
I've always been passionate about career management. Throughout the years I've helped countless young people develop the skills they've needed to find a great job. Through personal experience and the experiences of others, I've learned what it takes to succeed.
I believe the stories and lessons shared in this book will help interns and young professionals learn how to proactively manage their careers and find success in the new business world.

A great career development guide for all students
Tanner takes the listener on the highs and lows of his interesting career development journey. This is a no nonsense illustration about how his commitment, hard work and persistence eventually pays off. It is a terrific life lesson for all students, not just business and finance majors. Build your business network early. Create your own opportunity. Never give in.
Tanner provides accounts of having to work extremely long hours to contribute and survive. First as an intern, then through a series of different jobs, he learns why it is essential to stay the course. Any graduate coming out of university who thinks they are now owed a living should read, or listen, to this book. It's an important reality check for students looking for internships and employment.
This Tanner's career development story.
Admiration. I'll now use examples from this book in my professional practice lectures. I will recommend this book to all my students.
Shame you cannot access the end of chapter take aways and appendices as downloads with this Audible.com audiobook version. I'll have to write to Nathan Tanner to get them.
