Summary

A London Lovers Series Stand-Alone

When Leslie Lincoln, a spunky, red-headed American, suffers an awkward moment with an arousingly-sexy British man - she thinks her life can't get any more pathetic.

She's done with men.

She doesn't need them.

She especially doesn't need their muscular thighs.

No siree, she's going to forget all about the brooding, complicated, and seductive Theo, who captivated her on the dance floor of a London nightclub.

Keep telling yourself that, Lez….

Immersing herself into a new type of romantic cleanse, Leslie thinks she'll never lay eyes on Theo again. But somehow, he's managed to bulldoze his way back in - her cheetah-print onesie pajamas be damned.

He wants more.

She wants to run.

But he can't seem to let her go.

Both of them have a past - and neither want to share.

How can love possibly survive in darkness?

another good addition to this series.

this follows lesley and theo who have been in the background of the previous books. This book covers some emotional abuse and it's effect very well.
I found the characters likable as always but I did find the fix happened quite abruptly near the end. It did not spoil the story but I felt that the characters went from refusing to talk about their issues to facing them head on and then that was it.
I love the supporting characters building as I go through this series. I hope Frank gets his own book and I like that we are able to visit with the previous couples but the author is not taking the focus off the main story.
I am going onto the next book soon to see what happens next with this group of friends in London.

A fantastic series of books!

Any additional comments?

I loved this series of books-I’ve read them all so far and eagerly await any additional ones. I have now read two of the series in audiobook format. I’ve never been particularly keen to try audiobooks before listening to ‘That One Moment’ by this author. There used to be a children’s TV programme in England called ‘Jackanory’ when I was little-where a guest star-usually well-known, an actor etc. used to read a story out to viewers. I never liked this as I didn’t like all the different voices which the narrator used to put on. I preferred to read a book myself. ‘That One Moment’ completely changed my mind on audiobooks as it has duet narration-the male parts are read by a male and the female voices are done by a female. This was ‘just right’ in my opinion and pure luxury as the two audiobooks I have listened to since I have enjoyed but I have been wishing ‘but if they had this male and female dual narration it would be so much better!’ I think I’ve been spoilt! I like the nice natural tone to Piper Goodeve’s voice, it’s a nice steady pace, when she’s just speaking normally. I’m not a fan of audiobook narrators putting on a man’s voice. It just doesn’t sound right to me. I’d prefer them just to read it all in their own voice-one can tell when it’s a different character speaking when the author has put comments such as ‘Theo said’ etc. I think it would flow better rather than the voice artist keep trying to change their voice.
I did enjoy this book again though. I loved it the first time when I read it and it was great to be able to listen to it whilst getting other things done at the same time-eg. housework etc. I’ve found audiobooks are so convenient that way and am getting ‘into them’ now. London Bound is one of my favourites in Amy Daws’ series-it has a bit of everything: Romance, suspense, comedy, tragedy, hope. A great book-can’t wait for more in the series. Please more duet narration-or even more narrators!

Loved the Story

Loved the storyline. Two people with haunting pasts, one American, one British. Beautifully written, funny, angsty and emotional. Loved all the characters, especially Leslie and Theo (a true sexy alpha male not afraid to portray his feelings and go for what he wants). Leslie has a troubled past and won't open up to anyone, she has trust issues and is hell bent on putting herself down, not willing to bare her soul. Theo knows that Leslie is the one for him as soon as he lays eyes in her in a London nightclub. Sassy American Leslie enjoys a moment with Theo on the dance floor and after embarrassing herself during a rather raunchy dance, she lives happily in the knowledge she will never see him again. Wrong! It would appear their lives are destined to cross, but Leslie is hell bent on not letting Theo into her life and definitely not into her heart. Luckily for us, Theo doesn't give up easily. Must say with the audio version I was a little disappointed in the narrator's voice when she portrayed the British accent, too much plum in mouth for my liking.

A beautiful story

I absolutely loved this audiobook. The narrator was excellent, even doing a decent attempt at a British accent.
This story has real depth. I certainly felt a full range of emotions whilst listening.
Leslie and Theo are a beautiful couple. I was so invested in their story. I loved the way Amy Daws added some much needed comic relief in the form of gay best friend Frank.
This series is well worth a listen.

Quirky, heartwarming romance

An enjoyable, funny, heartwarming, a little sad but a lot happy romance. The characters are flawed and quirky with real life issues, which makes them more likeable and more interesting. Piper Goodeve's narration brings the story alive. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Wow

This was my first audiobook and I was blown away. I loved the story and laughed and cried throughout. The characters were amazing. I’ve read all of Amy’s work but now I want to listen to them as well ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Quirky romantic drama with clever twists

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

4.5 stars overall. A lovely story with lots of laugh out loud moments, plenty of romance, hot sex, drama and touching emotional scenes. Firstly, I loved Theo. He seems like the perfect man - sexy, intelligent, determined, caring, funny, creative and in touch with his emotions. Lesley's dress sense, humour and sheer Joie de vivre was great. She often made me laugh and I admired her enthusiasm and courage (especially when fulfilling certain tasks.) At one point she describes herself as 26 going on 16 and she was right! For about a quarter of the book she drove me mad. Honestly I wanted to slap her hard, repeatedly! She was insensitive, self centred and selfish to such a degree that I caught myself shouting at my car stereo (hey, it made me feel better.) You should read this book yourself, so I'm not going to explain fully why, but one example is she's 'officially' been dating Theo for 24 hours and he wouldn't explain a trauma from his past. Lesley, (acknowledging that she has her own secrets that she won't tell him) pushes him away emotionally and physically then leaves. This attribute occurs a few times and it really got to me. I guess that shows how engrossed in the story I got. lol. I loved some of the other characters like Frank, too and appreciated that all loose ends were tied up and it had a lovely snuggly happy ending that even brought a tear to my eye.

What other book might you compare London Bound to, and why?

Hmm not sure of a match.

What aspect of Piper Goodeve’s performance might you have changed?

I thought that the characters came to life, especially Lesley and Frank. I found Theo's voice a bit flat and at times I had problems differentiating between the male characters. But at some points I found the almost staccato delivery technique annoying as it took me from the story, it jarred me. Apart from that the pace and the drama was just right.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All in all a good read, which stays with you, as I'm still smiling at the nicknames and the high jinx, and sighing over some of Theo's outstandingly romantic statements.

Any additional comments?

One little criticism is that Lesley went on and on and on and on about her and Theo's first meeting. Yes we get it! Unfortunately the repetition took all the humour out of it for me. Anyway, a woman with her daily dress code, as it were, wouldn't be mortified that long. ;-)
