Highly recommended story for 7-9 year olds

I am a primary school teacher and have been for nearly 20 years. This story is a firm favourite with children with a good balance between moments of peril and moments of humour. I have been looking to get this as an audiobook for quite a long time, so was delighted to find it (and the sequel 'The Witch's Revenge) on audible. It tells the tale of Phillip, a young boy carried off to a far away island by a magical kite to help the animal inhabitants fight against Oyin, the evil witch.
The characters are memorable and the story is a real 'page turner'. Nigel Lambert's narration is good and this retelling is well worth a listen. This little known story is a real classic and is a great introduction to the 'fantasy' genre for younger children.

Brilliant audio book!

I got this for my daughter who's reading the books in school. She listens to this every night and loves it.
