Thirteen-year-old New Yorker Rory Hennessy can see things no one else can. When a magician's trick opens his eyes to Mannahatta, Rory finds an amazing spirit city coexisting alongside modern-day Manhattan. It's a place where Indian sachems, warrior cockroaches, and papier-mâché children live, ruled by the immortal Gods of Manhattan - including Babe Ruth, Alexander Hamilton, and Peter Stuyvesant.
But Rory's power to see Mannahatta brings danger, and he is pursued by enemies, chasing history and trying to free those who have been enslaved. And when he is given the chance to right Mannahatta's greatest wrong, seeing Mannahatta may not be a gift after all....

unusual idea

This was a real surprise - I bought it thinking it would just be a cheap buy - which it was! but it was also very original and I enjoyed it immensely.

Original and entertaining

Although I'm not a child or young adult, I still found this book highly entertaining, original, well worth the credit. Author Scott Mebus combines an interesting premise with strange and unusual characters to create a really good tale of fantasy.

The narrator does a good job of bring the story to life.

Really good read for PJ & HP fans!

Took a gamble on this book & it paid off. Slow in starting but quickly takes up speed & grabs your attention. Didn't want to put it down...Really glad I took a gamble on it! I hope Mr. Mebus continues the story.
