Summary
Mousemaid Mariel and her bellmaker father are besieged and tossed into the sea by vicious pirate rat Gabool and his thugs. Washed ashore, Mariel is taken in by the kind animals of Redwall Abbey. But Mariel cannot find her father and is certain he has lost his life. With a motley band of adventurers, she swears revenge and begins a perilous quest straight into the heart of Gabool's stronghold, where a few surprises await.

Amazingly amazing spectacularly spectacular
Mariel of Redwall is amazing because it is really well thought through and they do a wonderful performance. The story is a good adventure a tale of a mouse maid who wants to find her father, a mouse who doesn't want to stay in a abbey also a lovesick hare and finally a hedgehog who wants to see something before settling down as a seller hog. A firm favourite given even more personality!
Always loved these books. Having them read to me was even better! A very versatile and talented cast, I was surprised to learn how many people voiced multiple characters, unbeknownst to me. Brian Jacques narrating was also very warm and comforting. It was really nice to hear music put to the songs and poems scattered throughout the book to boot!

a truly delightful story for young or old the daring adventure of mariel and a true band of friends within the story of the great Joseph bell of red wall abbey
the cast and Brian jacques bring this story to life I have enjoyed listening to mariel and will now begin to listen to the bell maker.

Love it!
I love these audiobooks. They really ad something extra to the story. The book is done with a full cast by the author himself. You hear all the types and accents as they are meant to be.
One minus point is that this book is not split into the chapters of the book but in chapters of around 1 hour.

Every child should read the Redwall Series.
What made the experience of listening to Mariel of Redwall the most enjoyable?
I have read and followed the Redwall series since I was young. Each book brings you new characters, and old ones too. By reading the series you become part of the characters lives and understand the history behind the magnificent Abbey of Redwall.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the character of Mariel "Gullwacker". She is a fun character, courageous, a good friend and companion, and a role model to all (both young and old).
Which character – as performed by Brian Jacques and a full cast – was your favourite?
There is no one particular character who could be your favourite. Although the hairs and their war cry make it difficult to remember all characters are important.
