Roald Dahl's wickedly funny novels have turned him into the world's number one storyteller. In this collection five splendiferous stories are brought to life by the author himself.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (abridged): Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory is opening at last!
James and the Giant Peach (abridged): a little magic can take you a long way.
Fantastic Mr. Fox (unabridged): nobody outfoxes Fantastic Mr. Fox!
The Enormous Crocodile (unabridged): this greedy crocodile loves to guzzle up little boys and girls.
The Magic Finger (unabridged): horrible neighbors learn their lesson from a little girl with powerful magic!

not as described - spoilt by poor description
Despite the description claiming the books to be unabridged, they're seriously cropped. Almost all the magic has been pulled away from the stories, there's no detail or whimsy left.
They reminded me that real books still have a valid place in society.
Dahl read with enthusiasm, but it was hard to differentiate between reading narrative and character voices at times.
The closest to a redeeming feature is that there were four books for the price of one. But that meant that they're only a quarter as good as a single book.
I'm going to return this book and get (what I hope really is) the unabridged single edition of Charlie and the chocolate factory.
I suppose smaller children - with limited attention spans or don't know the stories - will enjoy them, but my kids who are big Chocolate factory fans, were sorely disappointed.
