Publisher's Summary

Over the course of a story that is both intense and poignant, Morpurgo takes us on a journey through the very darkest times of the First World War and the horrors faced by those who endured it, be they man or beast.
Beautifully performed by Dan Stevens, War Horse has taken the world by storm. First published back in 1982, the book was adapted to the stage and was performed at the National Theatre back in 2007. It's well-deserved success means that it has now gone into it's third year at the New London Theatre and will be later debuting on Broadway in New York City.
At the outbreak of World War I, Joey, young Albert's beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He's soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man's land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to the trenches to find him and bring him home.

War Horse

Beautifully written by Michael Morpurgo and beautifully read by Dan Stevens, he really does bring the story to life...Dan Stevens does every book he narrates justice, he has to be my favourite narrator by far.

Fantastic Story, brilliantly narrated!

So much better than I thought it would be. The story is fantastic, the narrator's reading is brilliant and like a book you can't put down, this is an audiobook I can't stop listening to. I think this comes under the children's category, but I loved it and am 26 years old. I think this book is ageless. Fantastic audiobook!
