Around the World in 80 Days

The book is excellently narrated so much so that you feel part of the adventure. I have listened to this story at least three times and every time I enjoy it more than the last time. Brilliant!!

Brilliant!

Andrew Sachs is a brilliant narrator, and is wonderfully good at providing the characters with appropriate accents. He really brought the story to life for me, and made my long drives up and down the motorways pass much more enjoyably than with nothing to listen to. I am a big reader, and it's hard not having as much time to read when I'm travelling (because reading and driving don't mix all that well) so to find such a good source of audiobooks and such wonderful narrators is great!

The story itself is well written and fast paced, and a few times I found myself wondering what on Earth could happen next! The characters are in 'full colour' and it's easy to see how you are supposed to view them - e.g. as a villain or a good guy! I'd like to listen to the unabridged version and see how it compares, as I understand that this version is abridged. If you like travelling and adventures, or reading about them at least, then I'd definitely recommend this book. Though it was written a long time ago now, it is still highly enjoyable - and I found that the reference to modes of transport not necessarily in use any more just added to the tension of the journey!
