Summary

Nora Helmers has a secret. Years previously she placed herself at considerable financial risk so that her husband, the overbearing Torvald, could recuperate abroad from an illness. However, despite her sacrifices and deep love for Tovald, he looks upon her as careless and childlike — a doll to be admired. Nora will eventually come to contemplate the unthinkable, seeing her marriage for what it is. Ibsen's classic play represents a significant contribution to the theatre world for its critical attitude toward 19th-century marriage norms. Performances aroused great controversy at the time — and are no less powerful today.
Full cast: Laura Carmichael, Edward Harrison, Christopher Dane, Sarah Whitehouse, Harry Myers, Jessica Dennis, Josephine Arden.
