Karl May hat seinen "Firehand" härter und blutiger angelegt als folgende Werke. 40 Jahre lang wurde der fesselnde Ur-Text "aus der Mappe eines Vielgereisten" nicht mehr fürs Hörspiel adaptiert. Hier liegt eine Fassung vor, die dem May-Text so treu folgt wie kein Hörspiel zuvor und ihn mit dem Sound und Spirit von heute veredelt.
