Didn't finish it

I bought this after I heard good reviews on BBC Radio 4's " A good read" . I was disappointed. It was very slow-moving and too descriptive for me.

Breath-taking

Pulled at the depths of my heart. A resonating but sad read for anyone who has been touched by the inner pain of feeling love for another but without hope.

a good story

A good story but I really didn't like the narrator doing a silly lady voice...

Eloquent like an undisturbed surface of water

I really enjoyed this quiet narrative about a powerful and tragic love between the wealthy but lonely male protagonist Shimamura from Tokyo and Komako a provincial geisha in the remote town of Yuzawa. Wonderfully narrated this is a tale that leaves one wistful and sad
