The Picture of Dorian Gray

  • Abridged Audiobook

Publisher's Summary

Enthralled by his own exquisite portrait, Dorian Gray exchanges his soul for eternal youth and beauty. Influenced by his friend Lord Henry Wotton, he is drawn into a corrupt double life; indulging his desires in secret while remaining a gentleman in the eyes of polite society. Only his portrait bears the traces of his decadence. The novel was a succès de scandale and the book was later used as evidence against Wilde at the Old Bailey in 1895. It has lost none of its power to fascinate and disturb.

Enjoyable narration

I wanted to read this book for the last 6 years, but somehow never had time to buy a book and spend weekend reading it. So one day I decided to buy an audio book and while I was doing cleaning & ironing I was listerning Picture of Dorian Grey. Narratinon was absolutely beautifull. I think I had the most enjoyable time! I finished the book with a chocolate & a glass if wine and felt so happy!

poor narration & ommissions in text

I like to read along with my audiobooks so I was rather dissapointed when I realised pretty early on in this audiobook that large amounts of the text are omitted... not enough to ruin the storyline but rather annoying when trying to read along with it. As I had to keep pausing the audio to catch up with the book. sometimes up to half a page would be omitted at a time... Narrator also makes a few mistakes. I wish i'd bought another version to be honest. It's a good book in itself but this version let it down
