Summary

Perhaps the most haunting and tormented love story ever written, Wuthering Heights is the tale of the troubled orphan Heathcliff and his doomed love for Catherine Earnshaw. Published in 1847, the year before Emily Bronte's death at the age of 30, Wuthering Heights has proved to be one of the nineteenth century's most popular yet disturbing masterpieces. The windswept moors are the unforgettable setting of this tale of the love between the foundling Heathcliff and his wealthy benefactor's daughter, Catherine. Through Catherine's betrayal of Heathcliff and his bitter vengeance, their mythic passion haunts the next generation even after their deaths. Incorporating elements of many genres - from gothic novels and ghost stories to poetic allegory - and transcending them all, Wuthering Heights is a mystifying and powerful tour de force.

The best Audio of this classic

Would you consider the audio edition of Wuthering Heights to be better than the print version?

I've read and listened to both and they are both amazing, I just perfer to listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love to read but unfortunatly I'm a not a very accomplished at describing the attibutes of a charactor but I'll try and do my best. My favorite charactor is Ellen, her perspective and use of language in the story is indiscribable. She gives the reader a clear picture of all involved in the telling of this story.

Have you listened to any of Donada Peters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've not listened to Donada Peter's before but comparitively she is one of the best. Her voice, and her phrasing is spot on.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well I could go on and on the book is full moving moments, however, my favorite is when Heathcleff over hears the conversation between Ellen and Cathy regarding her choice to marry Linton.

Any additional comments?

I love audio books and I'm rarely disapointed, however, the prices for the the down load from the kindle is misleading. The price may say 9.95, inside a big buy icon, but you may recieve charged 27.95. When I called customer serice all they could say was that book cost 27.95 and when I asked where is that listed on the Kindle they had no answer. I have a small seperate bank account for my spending money, so even though it's a small amount it could result in an an over draft fee. I don't think I'll be down loading audio books form the Kindle store in the future.
