Abridged til it bled

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I'm a fan of audio dramas, and the production value of this one recommended it in the sample. But the story was so heavily abridged that whole plot points got chopped, and it was difficult to tell what was even going on half the time. Whole weddings were left at the wayside, for instance. I think there was one scene where someone is getting their head knocked into the bedpost, for instance, and the only reason you know what's going on is one of the servants starts shouting "oh no! Master Heathcliff has knocked him down!" and so forth. For a listener who had not read the original book (me) it was a disappointing experience. I also found myself irritated by the voice of whoever played Kathy. I am going to see if a more traditional audiobook makes more sense with the original narrative intact.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Audioscape Players?

I wouldn't rule it out, because the production value of this one was definitely high, and I love a good audio drama. But I'll be paying more attention to the reviews in future.
