Summary

The founding text of today's billion-dollar coaching industry, featuring the seminal GROW model, Coaching for Performance remains the world's best-selling coaching book. This major new edition is designed to stay ahead of the profession, with practical visuals and new material developed by the leading international performance consultants.

Coaching for Performance is the institution of the coaching profession. This landmark text has now undergone the largest revision yet in its history to bring it fully up to date for today's professionals. With a focus on coaching as a way of being rather than a temporary process, this new edition explains how coaching can have a profound effect on the culture of an organisation. No longer an activity conducted in isolation by a select few managers, coaching impacts the growth of the whole company as well as the personal growth of the individual. This new edition includes a Foreword by John McFarlane, Chairman of Barclays and TheCityUK. New chapters on culture change demonstrate how to build a high performance culture in any type of organisation and measure the results. Terminology has been revised throughout to align with that used by the International Coach Federation and a new full glossary of terms serves to make this the definitive book on the topic.

The influential GROW model (Goals, Reality, Options, Will) featured in the book is supported by new international studies and examples which are included throughout, ensuring that this edition will stay at the forefront of professional coaching and leadership development.

Unabridged? Important Appendix Missing

Great book but the appendix, which lists fantastic questions, was missing.

Luckily, I'd bought the paper copy or I'd have completely missed out on the list of questions, which are very helpful.

It would have been useful to play those questions in the car to help embed them, but the Audible version doesn't have them. A missed opportunity, especially as the book is supposed to be unabridged.

Hard to stay engaged...

This book has some good, solid advice about coaching and leading. However, overall the audiobook is incredibly dull to listen to. I found myself completely drifting off into other lines of thought regularly whilst listening. Example scenarios of conversations are particularly dull and really don't need the person's name saying before each sentence - listeners can tell it's a different character due to a change in tone/voice! I also don't think I bookmarked anything during this book as it repeats concepts discussed in other books around the same topic. In short...far too much rambling!

Great coaching advice for novice leaders and managers

There’s so much here to take in, definitely worthy of a 2nd read. I’m a big believer in the value of coaching and there is some useful guidance re how to approach, what types of questioning to use and exemplar conversations you may have.

A bit of a struggle to listen to in the car as I wanted to take notes throughout! The sign of a great audiobook.
Thank you

This is not simply a book. It is a transformational development programme and anyone in any form of management position, or with aspirations of getting there, and who want to become LEADERS must RSVP. Read, Study, Visualise and Perform it’s teachings. I urge all in Arun Estates to buy and apply. It will transform the way you handle people, how you coach and develop them and you will rise to the top of the tree! And you will be able to do so without ever having to ‘criticise, condemn or complain’ towards those you are developing - you will be in the arena of changing people’s lives!

Practical and easy to follow

Exercises throughout you can take away and work on. Plenty of theory if that's the way your mind works, all wrapped up in a good storytelling narrative. Recommend to anyone not just leaders!

A great read

The voice acting is a little boring, but the content is good. Worth a listen.
