Interesting Tale of WWII Theft and Deceit in US
Although Copper Star isn't listed as historical fiction, it is set in the late 19830s to 1945, during WWII in a small copper mining town in Arizona . . . the historical facts relating to Dietrich Bonhoeffer are correct, although I cannot substantiate a connection to the pastor in this book . . . he was friends with American pastors . . . nor can I connect him to Louisa, the Jewish refugee, although he helped many to escape Nazi Germany . . . I find no record of a Friedrich Mueller (or anyone else) connected to German Nazi's or a plot in Arizona which robbed citizens of their money and riches . . . although it makes for a great tale . . . all that said, this is a wonderful story of the daughter of Jewish parents, who is now a Christian, who, has escaped to America . . . to Arizona . . . to live with a family, a pastor, his deaf son and their aunt . . . Robert Gordon is a stiff, reserved man and his aunt is a no-nonsense woman that is harsh and hard to get to know . . . but in time Louisa cracks their hard shells . . . and finds herself especially drawn to little William . . . Robert finds Louisa's boldness irritating and disconcerting . . . until, little by little, Louisa even gains entrance into Robert's world . . . this is a book filled with the sweetness of God's grace and mercy . . . the writing is wonderful, insightful . . . and healing . . . beyond anything you might imagine . . . it would have gotten five stars from me if I had been able to connect the history accurately . . .

I was lost in the story, i think helped by narrator who used her tone of voice to depict emotion, rather than just reading.
