Summary

When ex-cop Dennis Milne, now living under an assumed identity in the Philippines, hears that his old friend Asif Malik has been gunned down in a restaurant, he decides to go back to the violent city he once called home and hunt down the murderer.Milne arrives in a pre-Christmas London that is cold and hostile. But he is no longer a policeman; no longer charged with keeping the peace and upholding the law. And although his former colleagues don't know he's back, it soon becomes clear that there are people who do. And they'll stop at nothing to get him out of the way.

Brilliant thriller!

A really good story, narrated well with believable accents.

The plot is very good. When you think you have the hang of it, another twist will turn your theories upside down.

All of the characters are inter-related by some way and the final plot twist is a cracker.

Completely recommended

Implausible plot, unattractive characters

I jumped at the chance to listen to this book having been very impressed by the author's books, Relentless and Severed. However, A Good Day to Die, wasn't as good. There isn't a sympathetic character in the story e.g., the "hero" ex-cop Milne of the story has become a contract killer! I'm willing to suspend belief over the daring-do exploits in stories, but this book goes just too far. The justification for Milne risking his life again and again is weak and his repeated escapes from tough guys implausible.
