When Majorcan Inspector Enrique Alvarez is called upon to investigate the death of a woman found shot dead in her own home, all the evidence seems to point to her husband's guilt. Heron is far from rich, but his wife, Belinda, was. Added into the equation is Belinda's reported belligerence towards her husband, his unsupported alibi and proof that he had been having an affair. The case seems cut and dried. Except that Alvarez just doesn't believe Heron is guilty. But with only his instinct to go on, the theory doesn't go down well with his superiors.
