Publisher's Summary

Following a gruelling operation in Paris, Liz Carlyle’s bosses post her to MI5’s counter-espionage desk, but they haven’t counted on the fallout from Putin’s incursions into the Ukraine. Liz needs to track down a Russian spy who has entered the UK before he completes his fatal mission. Meanwhile, the intelligence services are in the spotlight. In response to the debate raging around privacy and security, they hire Jasminder Kapoor, a controversial civil rights lawyer, to explain the issues to the public. But in this new world of shadowy motives and secret identities, Jasminder must be extra-careful about whom she can trust.

What the Critics Say

"Liz Carlyle is an MI5 agent with the traditional thriller-heroine mix of dysfunctional personal life and steely ambition." (Daily Telegraph)
"This is something rare: the spy novel that prizes authenticity over fabrication that is true to the character and spirit of intelligence work." (Mail on Sunday)

Weak plot

This is the first Stella Remington novel that I have not been really gripped by, most of the others have been tense and exciting but I fear this was written too quickly without a full raft of ideas, although I would not recommend this I would most of the others. Ash
