Summary

In this James-Bond-meets-real-world thriller, MI5 man Lucas Norton once again finds himself caught up in a high-stakes assault when a sniper in a powerboat takes a pot-shot at his family. Could it be linked to the daring raid carried out at GCHQ, where thieves evade the world's tightest security to steal top secret ultra-high-tech equipment from under his nose? Lucas's first case culminated in him, and the FBI, losing $48m from an international heist. Now he and his crack team over at GCHQ have only a few days to figure out what the stolen tech can do and where the thieves have gone. It's a search that takes them from London's secret underground railway to a disused WW2 bunker, the FBI's Black Hawk launch bay, the US Embassy and the very heart of MI5. Can Lucas's team stop a brilliantly executed plot to hold the populations of London and New York to ransom? Credence will have you trying to outsmart the world's most advanced intelligence services -- and the criminals who are one step ahead of them.

Action, twists, turns, and a great second novel

Misdirection, the first book where we met Lucas was full of hi-tech gadgetry, great characters and a compelling storyline....and Credence, book two, doesn't fail to deliver the same again and then some. We get to know Lucas and probe into his personal life a little more. The story, again, keeps you reading on wondering, hoping and bemused as to whether they're going to ...well I won't give anything away. Its a great book to listen to on your commute to your regular every day ordinary job, just to listen to the hi-tech world Lucas exists in, and it's fascinating, He is a Bond style character you can relate to, heck even live next door to! Martin is a relatively new author, and his humour comes through in the book, as does his attention to hi-tech detail. I can't wait to see what the next book brings for Lucas....there HAS to be a book three!!!

Great idea but lacked credibility

The main character not only sounds like a lower level civil servant but also he obviously didn’t have any contribution to make to help solve the perceived problem in hand - saving London and .New York
His character wined and dined in top restaurants , stayed in 5star hotels and worried a bit about his family but actual did no work.
At the other extreme - the general techie expert not only solved the problems instantly that the US had failed to solve after many months of expert involvement but also did the admin of sorting out protection for another character at the same time
Neither involving or believable

Brilliant book.

I read the first one and loved it and I have to admit I love the second one too. I hadn't used the audible service before and I now like it. Hearing this second book with a narrator reading it out just gives it a sense of realism, like its Lucas really telling us his version of events. Hope there will be a book three 🙂 remcommed for those who love James Bond who likes his coffee not martinis!!!
