Summary
The year is 1969, and 10 guests are about to enjoy a weekend at Tavistock Hall. The guests also include detectives Arthur Bryant and John May - undercover, in disguise and tasked with protecting Monty Hatton-Jones, a whistle-blower turning Queen’s evidence in a massive bribery trial.
The house’s owner - a penniless, dope-smoking aristocrat - is intent on selling the estate to a secretive millionaire, but the weekend has only just started when the millionaire goes missing, and murder is on the cards....

Entertaining as ever
Thoroughly enjoyed it but did guess the twist early on. Quite agree with the voices being old for the prequel but it did mean I knew the characters immediately. The narration is superb, a joy to listen to him.

perfect!!
Bryant and May are back. a fantastic foray into the past, retelling an old case from.tbe 60s. A typically eccentric and entertaining story.

Delightful Country House Murder pastiche
Finally the superb Bryant and May get to do a traditional country house murder investigation. It’s all mad, over-the-top, unbelievable and very funny. One of the most joyful of the whole series. Bryant does his secret creeping around while wearing tap dancing shoes!

The narrator brings a fabulous story to new levels,, possibly the best combination on audible, Bryant, May, Fowler, Goodman. First class, complete hokum but such fun

Hall of Mirrors
This was so good, so funny and I loved the chapter references of 1960s song titles. Brilliant! Thank you Christopher Fowler and Tim Goodman. Christine
