Summary

Medical examiner Sara Linton and police chief Jeffrey Tolliver suffer a shockingly brutal attack which threatens to destroy both their lives. But they're not random victims. They've been targeted. And it seems the past is catching up with both of them. Twelve years earlier, a straightforward weekend at the beach becomes a nightmare for Sara and Jeffrey. While visiting Jeffrey's hometown, they are first on the scene when Jeffrey's best friend Robert shoots dead an intruder who has broken into his home. Jeffrey is keen to clear his friend's name, but the facts don't tally with Robert's story. Soon, Sara doesn't know who to trust.

Abridged

So annoyed that this story is shortened... Lacks all of the usual atmosphere and character details that make her writing so good.
