comic genius
Jackson Lamb is my favourite comic character - the whole series of books sparkle with his wit and wisdom and the performance brilliantly brings him to life. Great entertainment.

Another fantastic read
I couldn't wait for this latest book and it didn't disappoint.
The storyline kept me wanting to read more which meant that it ended too soon.
Loved it.

Sough House never fails to deliver
Not withstanding the superb Apple TV adaptations which I highly recommend.
Sean Barrett is as near perfection as one can get.
The poetry of Mick Herron is perhaps not as evident as in some of the others but the plotting and characterisation still crackle with authentic dialogue and his trade mark, as yet unsurpassed, creative insults. An absolute joy.

Outstanding
Once more Mick Herron’s Slow Horses deliver an enthralling escapade. Terrific plot fully entwined with pithy one liners and, of course, the foul and witty observations of Jackson Lamb. Possibly the ultimate ant-hero. A part to be play by Micheal Gambon surely? There seriously needs to be some TV exploration of these books. Brilliant.

Brilliant
The 6th outing for the MI5 “rejects” who are stationed in Slough House. We join the team as everyone seems to be unravelling, caught up in their vices and losses. We also have a new team member, Lech, sidelined after compromising material is found on his Service laptop.
As the series has developed so to have the intricate ongoing plot lines and the characters, making it a brilliant and enjoyable. The reader feels like they are truly part of a story.
In Joe’s Country attention is on the reappearance of a rogue CIA officer (regular readers may guess who) and the disappearance of the child of a former Slow Horse. The desk bound operatives soon find themselves in the field and fighting for their lives.
This may work as a stand-alone but it truly is a remarkable series. Would thoroughly recommend starting at the beginning.
I did the audiobook and the narration is the best I’ve heard. I’m also looking forward to the TV adaptation which is due out shortly.

Continues to deliver great entertainment. Excellent characters. Well read. Looking forward to next one. This one was 2017 and Brexit.

Slow Horses just get better & better 12 stars!!!
Mick Herron mixes literary prose with acerbic humour and incredibly clever plotting. He's not afraid of killing off his main characters so no one is safe which makes you keep guessing what's going to happen.
I want to read book 7 straight away, but I also don't want to run out of them!
