Summary
Sometimes the truth is darker than fiction.
Liza Cole has 30 days to write the thriller that could put her back on the best-seller list. In the meantime, she's struggling to start a family with her husband, who is distracted by the disappearance of his best friend, Nick. With stresses weighing her down in both her professional and her personal lives, Liza escapes into writing her latest heroine, Beth.
Beth is a new mother who suspects her husband is cheating on her while she's home alone caring for their newborn. Angry and betrayed, she sets out to catch him in the act and to make him pay for shattering the illusion of their perfect life. But before she realizes it, she's tossing the body of her husband's mistress into the East River.
Then the lines between fiction and reality begin to blur. Nick's body is dragged from the same river, and Liza's husband is arrested for his murder. Hard work but enjoyable enough
The plot and twists were clever, but listening to this book was somewhat hard work. Felt as if a little more finishing off was needed - I found the end was left hanging somewhat.

Good story it twists and turns
It took me some time to get into this book. It seemed a little slow in the beginning but well worth sticking with it. I wasn’t too sure about the narrators but warmed to them as the story progressed.

Very good story
Addictive and clever. Lots of different threads to pull on to keep you entertained and engaged. I’d definitely listen to another audiobook from this author 📚

Narrator's accents were dreadful, not a bad story.
This tale was quite predictable, but not a bad listen. For me, it was spoilt by the shockingly bad accents of the narrator.

No surprises but a good read
Well presented and a unique take on the writer character relationship. To say more on the would mean major spoilers and for me even saying there’s a twist is an annoying spoiler so I’ll say no more.
Some reviewers have made some very negative comments on the narration. I thought the narration was fine. It is an audiobook so you have to allow for accents and a narrator’s interpretation of the script. I thought the narrators were fine, no jarring pronunciation, nothing intelligible.
I don’t think that it’s one I’ll revisit, but who knows. I enjoyed it and will look out for other offerings from this author and team.

Really enjoyed it
Started listening & couldn't stop. I've listened to so many books lately that I've been struggling to find something a bit different & I thought this storyline was that for me. I love murder mysterys & psychological thrillers but haven't found anything lately to hook me in. This did though so glad I took a chance on it. Only one other book on Audible from this author which is a pity.

Only let down by the rushed ending.
Also non Americans may find the accent of the narrator a bit grating.
